American Toad

Anaxyrus americanus

Do not eat!

  • Its skin is covered in small bumps, the “warts”, which are in fact poison glands. Inoffensive to touch, they become dangerous if we bite the toad.
  • Well resistant to dehydration, we can observe them far from wetland in forests and grasslands. However, it does need a more humid shelter.
