American Toad

Anaxyrus americanus

Do not eat!

Its skin is covered in small bumps, the “warts”, which are in fact poison glands. Inoffensive to touch, they become dangerous if we bite the toad.

Well resistant to dehydration, we can observe them far from wetland in forests and grasslands. However, it does need a more humid shelter.
