Common Snapping Turtle
Chelydra serpentina
Careful, I bite!
It is the largest soft water turtle of Quebec, with a shell that can reach up to 50 centimeters in length.
While mostly calm in the water, it can become very aggressive outside of the water if it feels threatened. It can stretch out its long neck and bite, which gives it the name ofsnapping turtle in English.
