Alces americanus

The largest of the cervids.

  • During mating season, the female moans can be heard over 3 km.
  • An excellent swimmer, the moose can swim for 19 km, at a speed of 10 km/h, dive up to 5 meters in depth and stay underwater for over 30 seconds.
  • It is the largest cervid worldwide. It can measure almost two meters at the shoulder.
