Wood Frog
Lithobates sylvaticus
Not a green frog…
Contrary to the majority of frogs of Quebec, the wood frog is never green. It is rather brown, grey, beige, pinkish or orangish.
The wood frog hibernates at ground level and can survive being frozen, thanks to an “antifreeze” substance present in its body. It can completely freeze and revive in the spring.
