Wood Frog

Lithobates sylvaticus

Not a green frog…

  • Contrary to the majority of frogs of Quebec, the wood frog is never green. It is rather brown, grey, beige, pinkish or orangish.
  • The wood frog hibernates at ground level and can survive being frozen, thanks to an “antifreeze” substance present in its body. It can completely freeze and revive in the spring.
